Photography Show 2009 - Depth of Field

This was my favorite category. Students tried to demonstrate a narrow depth of field, which the foreground and background are out of focus and middle ground in focus or somewhere in between. A lot of people said they had a hard time deciding on this one. Joe Howell's close-up of the vine won 1st place. Well done.

Photography Show 2009 - Shutter Speed

For this category, students were asked to demonstrate the fast shutter speeds of our camera. The fastest that we can take is 1/2000 of a second. We had fun studying examples and learning about how the shutter speed and light work together. This was also a close one, but Juan's photo of the faucet drip got the most votes. Well done everyone!

Photography Show 2009 - Sports

This was a challenging category. We had lots of great entries and I think the students had fun with it. Juan Segura's football kick shot won the prize. Nice job.

Photography Show 2009 - Individual

This was a category where students did their own individual ideas using what they have learned about their cameras. I lumped these with the mystery photos category. I thought they all turned out great. Very artistic! It was a very close race, but Joe Howell won this one with his photo of the oil grate at Valvoline.

Students chose different techniques and methods to capture architecture photos in their own unique way. Juan Segura's photo from a trip to the Plaza won 1st place for this category. Well done.

Photography Show 2009 - Animals

This was a difficult category, but I thought all the entries were great. Corban Allenbrand took 1st place with the photograph of his dog at the stairs.

Photography Show 2009 - Nature

This category was the favorite of viewers and students alike. It was a very close race but Joe Howell won 1st place with his photograph of the blooming tree.

Photography Show 2009 - Portrait

This was a challenging category. Everyone enjoyed the portraits at the show. Corban's portrait of his sister was the favorite.

Photography Show 2009 - Landscape

These are landscape photos that were entered into the 2009 competition. Students had to travel on their own time outside of school to capture these landscapes. It was a close race. Juan Segura's photo of Olathe Lake took 1st place.

Photography Show 2009 - Documentary

These are the documentary photos that were entered into the 2009 Photography Exhibit.
Joe Howell's photo of the stairwell won 1st place.
